Build a quote-ready transformer package.

A neutral evidence framework for UK and US data-centre projects: define the duty, package boundary, compliance file, tests and schedule assumptions before comparing offers.

RFQ inputs

Freeze the comparison basis first

DOE's current market analysis links specification fragmentation with transformer production complexity. A controlled baseline lets every bidder price the same duty while recording alternatives as explicit deviations instead of silent assumptions.

Input 1

System duty

Record input and output voltages, frequency, capacity, load profile, operating modes and the resilience objective. Keep design calculations with the engineer of record.
Input 2

Network interface

Identify the connection point, earthing approach, fault level, protection, metering and every utility, DNO or authority requirement that constrains the package.
Input 3

Package boundary

State whether the offer includes only the transformer or also enclosure, cooling, monitoring, switchgear, cables or busbar, accessories, spares and site services.
Input 4

Site conditions

Capture indoor or outdoor location, ambient conditions, altitude, fire and environmental constraints, noise limit, footprint, access route and lifting restrictions.
Input 5

Programme

Separate design freeze, submittals, approvals, production slot, inspections, factory testing, transport, installation, energisation and commissioning into dated assumptions.
Input 6

Acceptance

List applicable standards, calculations, drawings, test schedule, hold and witness points, certificates, commissioning records, handover data and defect obligations.

Market checks

Classify the product before claiming compliance

United States

Start with the federal definition

DOE's current page defines distribution transformers by voltage, frequency, capacity and exclusions, then points to the applicable energy-conservation standard and test procedure. Record whether the proposed unit falls within that scope and the evidence supporting the conclusion; do not treat a generic “DOE compliant” statement as the whole technical evaluation.
United Kingdom

Trace the ecodesign evidence

Current government guidance lists small, medium and large power transformers within the energy-related product regime. It assigns compliance duties to the party first placing the regulated product on the market or putting it into service, and requires a Declaration of Conformity backed by technical documentation. Confirm the applicable GB or NI route for the specific package.

Offer comparison

Keep price, scope and risk on the same page

01

Normalize the base offer

Compare the same duty, package boundary, documentation, tests, delivery point, currency, taxes and commercial date.
02

Expose every deviation

Require a numbered deviation and exclusions schedule. An alternative is useful only when its technical, programme and commercial effects are visible.
03

Revalidate before award

Refresh compliance evidence, factory and component assumptions, programme dates, logistics, interfaces and acceptance responsibilities at the decision point.

Build the research set

Connect the package to the directory

Use the filtered records to identify organisations for further research, then apply the same requirement and evidence matrix to every candidate. Directory inclusion is not proof of factory allocation, product compliance, technical fit or delivery capacity.
